I have always had a passion to tell others of the abundant life that Christ has promised me. By blogging this will provide another avenue to fulfill that passion. I am a family man married for 60 years we have one son, one daughter, 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters-in-law, and 3 great granddaughters. I worked in the data processing industry for 40 years before retiring. I have taught adult Bible classes, junior high Bible classes, and personal Bible studies for over 40 years. I served as a volunteer chaplain at Baylor Hospital in Dallas for nine years.

Like most everyone else, I have experienced many adversities in my life. A nephew at the age of three died of leukemia, my brother-in-law was killed in Vietnam, my sister suffered for five years before passing away with cancer, a very dear friend suffered for 10 years with cancer before passing away, my son-in-law died of cancer at the age of 41. I suffered the loss of an eye at the age of 16 as a result of an accident. I was defrauded out of approximately $800,000 in a business deal. I overcame my growing up in a dysfunctional family.

Testimony is required by each of us. – 2 Corinthians 2:17; - 1 John 5:8-12

When I was 13 years old my friend and I were baptized.  For about two years I was sort of a Christian (meaning I was not very committed to Christ and His desires for me).  I did not allow the Holy Spirit to fill my life. I still had my own desires and purposes that were filling my life.  During my high school years I allowed my peers to influence my life more than I allowed the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit that was needed in my life. The next fifteen years of my life was wasted doing my own thing and fulfilling my own desires.  I was living a self-centered life.  During these years I never moved my faith to a personal relationship with my Lord. I was far from God and not really the person that God desired me to be. I realized I was going nowhere, my life had no meaning, and no purpose.  I had college behind me and was working full time at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico with a very challenging career.  I received several promotions during this period of time.  By this time I was married, with a son and a daughter.  My world came completely apart, we had moved to Dallas, from New Mexico, and the company I was working for went bankrupt the week before Christmas owing me one month salary.  The company had really rolled out the red carpet. They flew me to Dallas once for the interview, and then again with the family to look the place over.  Sometimes God must get our attention in order for us to submit to Him.  As I grew up on a ranch I remember always being told whether you are riding a horse are breaking a horse you must first get his attention. Something inside told me that God was the only answer for my life (we must remember God’s Word never returns void).  I was re-baptized at that point in my life I became a true Christian.  I was a fully committed disciple of Jesus Christ my Lord.  I put God first in my life and reset my priorities to allow Him to be first.  I will continue to put Him first until I go home to be with Him.

Lessons I have learned:

1. - God has little use for a person that does not put Him first in their heart and soul. 2 Chronicles 16:9

2. - I have hope of “eternal life” I look forward to the day when I can be with the One that loves me.  John 3:16

3. - God wants the best for me.  John 10:10

4. - God wants me to produce fruit – Galatians 5:22-23 – He has given me the Holy Spirit to help me accomplish His purpose

5. - I must keep God’s Word in my heart and mediate on His Word. This will help keep me from evil/devil.  Psalm 1:1-3

6. - God has promised to answer my prayers.  John 15:16

7. - When I keep God as the center of my life I do not have to worry.  He will take care of me.  Psalm 139:3

God charged Adam and Eve to take care of the garden, and not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil – Genesis 2:15-17.  God had a very close relationship with Adam and Eve He walked and talked with them in the garden – Genesis 3:8-9.  What a relationship that must have been.  God enjoys a close relationship with man – Psalm 139:3, we are never out of His sight.

Adam and Eve made a choice between having a relationship with God and fulfilling their own desires – Genesis 3:2-6.

God had a plan from the very beginning to restore mankind back into a relationship with God – Gen 3:15; Titus 1:1-3.

At the appointed time Jesus was send into this fallen world to provide a way for man to be restored/redeemed back into a relationship with God.

How does glorifying God occur? By cultivating the habit of including the Lord God in every segment of your life. By refusing to expect or accept any of the glory that belongs to God. By maintaining a priority relationship with Him that is more important than any other on earth – Psalms 86:12
